“In 2012, I launched The Lip Bar because everywhere I looked, the media was telling women that beauty looked a certain way. I hated it! So I started making lipstick in my kitchen because I believed beauty shouldn’t compromise health and because I was determined to change the way people thought about beauty. There is no standard! You are the standard.”

“One night over a glass of pinot, we sat down and asked ourselves why it was so hard to find the perfect nude lipstick. That conversation sparked an idea, and that idea became the brand we are building today. We created Mented Cosmetics because we believe every woman should be able to find herself in the world of beauty, no matter her skin tone. We know you’ll love being put first – because when it comes to beauty, no one deserves to be an afterthought.” – KJ Miller and Amanda E. Johnson.

“…a truly international brand bridging culture and race. Her products are all fragrance-free, allergy-tested, non-comedogenic, and made in California. Why a makeup line that caters to all skin colors and types? Because at our core, we all want to be beautiful! Her makeup techniques are influenced by early attempts to “get away with” wearing makeup that her parents and family members couldn’t detect. She was forbidden to wear makeup as a young girl, but longed to be glamorous and beautiful like her mother. Her first attempts at applying blush, eyeshadow, lipstick, and other beauty products were to look more beautiful without others being able to detect she was wearing makeup at all.”

“I could never understand why we live in an age of prescriptive beauty, a monolithic existence where individuality and uniqueness has been left by the wayside and instead a singular idea of what beauty should look like is that status quo. The world is beautiful because we are all different and colorful in our unique way and this is why UOMA Beauty exists. To celebrate uniqueness, to bring people from all ethnicities, gender, sexual orientation, sizes and of all ages together in a colorful celebration and co-existence.” – Sharon Chuter, CEO, Founder, Creative Director
